Flat Tyre Change and Puncture Rescue Kilkenny
Potholes on Kilkenny's county roads, debris on the M9 and the general state of some of our back roads mean punctures and blowouts are an everyday call for us. Kilkenny Recovery Truck provides a 24 hour flat tyre service: we fit your spare, fit a temporary repair where the tyre allows, or recover the car to a tyre centre if the tyre and wheel are beyond saving.
Many newer cars have no spare wheel at all, just a can of sealant that does nothing for a sidewall tear or a buckled rim. If that is you, do not sit there trying to make it work. Ring us and we will sort it.
Our tyre rescue service
- Fitting your spare or space-saver wheel at the roadside
- Removing seized wheel nuts and locking wheel nuts (bring your locking nut key if you have it)
- Inflating and temporary plug repair of simple tread punctures where safe to do so
- Flatbed recovery to a tyre centre in Kilkenny when the tyre or wheel is destroyed
- Recovery for cars with run-flat tyres that have gone beyond their safe distance
- Two punctures at once (common after hitting a kerb or a pothole) where one spare is not enough
Never change a tyre on the M9 hard shoulder
If you get a puncture on the motorway, do not attempt to change it yourself. The hard shoulder is the most dangerous place on the road network and lorries pass within a metre of you at 90 km/h. Pull in as far left as you can, get behind the barrier, and call us. We will recover the car to the next junction or to a safe lay-by and change the wheel there, or bring you straight to a tyre centre.
Pothole damage claims in Kilkenny
If a pothole on a public road has damaged your tyre, wheel or suspension, photograph the pothole with something for scale, note the exact location and report it to Kilkenny County Council. You may be able to claim the cost of the damage from the council. Our invoice and a tyre centre report help support the claim.
- Hazard lights on and, if it is safe, roll the car in off the road or into a gateway.
- At night or in bad weather, stay visible: hi-vis vest, sidelights on, warning triangle well back.
- Keep passengers away from the road, especially on narrow county roads with no verge.
- Send us your Eircode or a Google Maps pin so we find you first time.

How flat tyre change works with us
Flat Tyre Change in Kilkenny: common questions
Can you bring a replacement tyre to me?
We do not carry a full tyre stock on the truck. We fit your spare if you have one, repair simple punctures where safe, or recover you to a tyre centre. Webster's Garage can also source and fit tyres.
My space-saver spare is flat too. What now?
This is very common because the spare is never checked. We can inflate it with the compressor on the truck. If it is damaged, we recover the car.
I have run-flat tyres. Do I still need you?
Run-flats are designed for a limited distance at reduced speed, usually around 80 km. If you are further than that from a tyre centre, or the tyre has been driven on too long and the sidewall has broken down, you need a flatbed.
